Nikita Nikalje

Nestled in the vibrant bylanes of Kala Ghoda, Mumbai's beloved artisanal pizza café, Pass The Salt, has embarked on a delectable new journey. Renowned for its Chicago-style deep-dish pizzas and signature thin crusts, the eatery now entices patrons with a freshly curated pasta menu that promises to redefine classic Italian flavors with contemporary flair.

The intimate setting, complemented by the aroma of freshly prepared dishes, offers a sensory delight even before the first bite.

The Pasta Lineup

Staying true to its ethos of authenticity infused with creativity, the new pasta offerings feature four standout dishes, each drawing inspiration from Italy's rich culinary heritage:

  • Casarecce Diavola: A spirited twist on the classic Arrabbiata, this dish pairs short, twisted Casarecce pasta with a chili-infused San Marzano tomato passata, fresh basil, and Parmesan shavings. The pasta's unique shape ensures the sauce clings perfectly, delivering a harmonious blend of heat and tang in every mouthful.

  • Linguine Aglio e Olio: Elevating a timeless favorite, this rendition features linguine tossed in extra virgin olive oil and garlic, enriched with a trio of Kalamata, black, and green olives. Finished with Parmesan and a sprinkle of peperoncino flakes, it offers a symphony of simplicity and bold Mediterranean flavors.

  • Lumache al Tartufo: An indulgent creation, this dish introduces India's first White Pesto pasta. Small, ridged, shell-shaped Lumache pasta cradles a creamy white pesto crafted from ricotta, garlic, sourdough, and walnuts, all elevated by the luxurious essence of white truffle oil. It's a testament to the art of balancing rich, nutty notes with an elegant aromatic profile.

  • Bucatini alla Nerano: Drawing inspiration from the Amalfi Coast, this plate combines fried yellow zucchini with a vibrant Sungold cherry tomato sugo, fresh basil, and garlic-infused oil. The hollow-centered bucatini captures the sauce beautifully, while crispy fried basil leaves add a delightful crunch, evoking the essence of a sunlit Italian summer.

A Word from the Founder

"For me, pastas bring out a poetic moment. It's almost like time stops, tastes rush in, and you can hear the dramatic Italian music playing in the background," shares Kruti Sanghvi, co-founder of Pass The Salt. "We wanted all Italian food lovers to relive this sensation over and over, every time they visit. Each dish on the menu is crafted to deliver indulgence, comfort, and a hint of surprise. This is pasta with a playful, irresistible twist that's truly ours."
